What is Somatic Yoga ?

Somatic Yoga is slower and gentler than many forms. It is rooted in Hatha Yoga and options are provided for each student to work to her/his/their own level.

Learn Yoga in a relaxed atmosphere

with Christina-Marie Sears. Christina is a dance professional, and a RYT 200/ 500 Yoga Teacher who is registered with ISMETA, Yoga Alliance. She is an alumna of East West Somatics Institute.

About your Instructor

Christina-Marie is a member of Yoga Alliance, ISMETA, and has taught on the Faculties of Eastern Michigan University, Wayne State University and Towson University of Baltimore, Maryland, Baltimore School of the Arts and Jackson School of the Arts, in Dance. She recently taught integrated Dance, Music and Creative Workshops with WISD and Very Special Arts of Michigan. She currently teaches Percussive Dance, Vocal Music, and Creative Dance for Know Obstacles at the Music Environment in Ann Arbor MI.

Classes include Yoga Asana Practice and Flow combinations, as well as playful Free Movement Practice and Mindfulness. All ages and experience levels welcome.

Classes available Tuesday/ Thursday evenings, and on weekends. Private Lessons can be scheduled as well. To get started, fill out the Interest Form

Class will meet most months with some time off in June, July and August. Your vacation plans can be accommodated.

Important Information

  • If possible, bring your own mat, strap and block for Somatic Yoga.

  • If you don’t have a mat, you can borrow one from the studio.

  • Tuition varies. A 3-pack of classes is $65. Private lessons (60 minutes) start at $45.

  • Wear comfortable layers. Props and Mats are available at Maple Street Studios. There are 10 stairs down to the studio. If stairs limit your ability to participate, inquire and we can meet in your space or another studio nearby.

  • Free street parking on Maple Street. Walk 1/2 a block south on Prospect and you will see the studio door. There is a gnome flag and a flamingo flag.
